LECO: when the eye wants to take part!
by Valeria Rocca
Young and attractive design, fuctionality and playfulness: this is the summary of the LECO project, an unusual structured collection, drawn from the design studio of Flussocreativo Brescia (North Italy).
The objective is to stimulate green consumer behaviour without sacrificing fashion with the slogan “the eye wants to take part”.
The project represents a commitment to the environment and, through this innovative idea, allows everyone to communicate and engage in the collection with no obstacles.
«Leco is clearly a reference to ‘Lego’, a worldwide game that from an early age increases the ability to manage and combine small items, stimulating creativity - says Daniel Facchetti, the designer of Flussocreativo – hence the desire to create, even for a sensitive topic such as environmental sustainability, the opportunity to interact with containers to help us overcoming obstacles. This vision has led us to the design of a collector who had the ability to attract attention, in addition to its function, its ability to solve problems of space and encourage the daily practice of recycling».
The project, which is looking for a manufacturer, will build its first prototype in January 2011 and for the new year there will be a promotional campaign to launch the new product.
The structure consists of a gray base and four buckets for the collection which are different colours (blue for aluminium, green for glass, white for paper and yellow for plastic) in low density polyethylene (LDPE).
Each bucket fits over the others with a pyramidal shape, taking up little space and allowing those who use it to choose the best solution for their own environment.
