How to communicate public water

by Silvia Musso

Within Accadueo –International Expo of technologies for the treatment and distribution of drinking water and wastewater treatment, held at Fiera di Ferrara from 19th to 21st May- AICA organizes the exhibition “Communicating Public Water”, inside pavilion nr. 7 (near to the main congress room and the welcome desk for international deputations): it’s dedicated to some of the best communicative campaigns about public water and water saving made all over Italy in the last years.

«The primary aims of AICA are to study, share and promote the environmental communication –says Roberto Cavallo, president of the International Association for Environmental Communications- This exhibition collects, and brings into a technical-oriented Fair, important witnesses about how to promote public water, using all communicative tools. Because the same advertising and marketing strategies used by the seller of bottled mineral water can be used to promote tap-water too! Furthermore, this exhibition gets a special relevance in Italy, where nowadays the public opinion is discussing about the privatization of water sources».

These are the campaigns shown in Ferrara: "Io non me ne lavo le mani” by Gruppo Hera; “Facile come bere un bicchier d’acqua” by Sap; “Anche io bevo l’acqua del sindaco” e “Buona, controllata, economica e non produce rifiuti” by Veritas; “Le case dell’acqua: una scelta sicura e amica dell’ambiente” e “Insieme per tutelare il futuro dell’acqua” by Cap Holding; “T.V.B. – Ti Voglio Bere” by Centro Studi Ambientali of Turin; “Acqua in brocca” by the Municipality of Arezzo; “AcquaBO – Ogni goccia conta” by the Municipality of Bologna; “Ruby Netto” by Cs Lab (Caltanissetta); “Ai nostri bambini diamo un’acqua davvero buona – Smat, la tua fonte di qualità” e “E’ arrivato il chiosco dell’acqua” by Smat Torino.
