ARK: the new fully eco-sustainable hotel… floating

by Francesca De Matteis

It has a charming, is a technological marvel and is completely environmentally friendly: it is the most modern and ecological hotel, which has been heard, the ARK.

The abrupt and increasingly important climate change as the global warming and rising sea levels are the reasons that prompted the Russian architect Alexander Remizov, in collaboration with the German engineering company and the scientist in Moscow Lev Britvin, to design a project so ambitious and innovative.

The building, completely self-sufficient thanks to a system of generators for wind and solar energy, is uniquely shaped dome, «Its unique structure promotes the formation of air turbulence - reports Remizov - strengthening the work of wind turbines and promotes the accumulation of hot air at the top of the building. This heat will be turned into other types of energy to be collected even in the heat storage units».

The hotel was designed in order to accommodate about 10,000 people and provides an extension of 14,000 square meters. What is striking about this building, in addition to recyclable materials used, such as wood and plastic EFTE high strength, is the speed of creation: a building of this type may in fact be realized, according to its creator, in truly record time, 3 or 4 months at most.

It has also being foreseen a floating "version" thanks to a special honeycomb-shaped hull that allows the water line and at the same time exploit the heat of the water. It will allow us to survive the natural disasters caused by climate change.

The tourism sector, through spectacular and futuristic buildings as Ark, can help people to reflect on certain aspects related to renewable energy and the environment, leading to undertake more sustainable lifestyles, thanks to special and evocative forms of interaction. At the moment the project is just an idea. Expect generous donors!
